Synopsis:

Defiance is written and directed by Crested Butte homeowner Edward Zwick, who has directed such acclaimed films as Blood Diamond, Courage under Fire, Legends of the Fall, and Glory. As a producer, Zwick has won an Academy Award for Shakespeare in Love and earned a nomination for Traffic. During his time in Crested Butte, Zwick has edited films such as Blood Diamond, and has been involved with the Crested Butte Reel Fest.

Defiance stars Daniel Craig, the current incarnation of James Bond.

Inspired by a true story, the epic World War II drama tells the tale of three Jewish Eastern European brothers who narrowly escape certain death at the hands of the Nazis. They vow to avenge the deaths of their loves ones by launching a desperate battle against the forces that seek to exterminate their entire race.
The year is 1941, and the setting is Nazi-occupied Poland. Tuvia, Zus, and Asael have managed to escape into the surrounding forest. Having played in these woods since childhood, the brothers have a distinct advantage over their adversaries, and soon decide that simply surviving is not enough. In order to make a difference, they must take action, and in order to take action they will need support.
As a brutal winter descends, they work to create a functioning community that will help them endure the frigid months that lie ahead, and to keep faith alive when all humanity appears to be lost.
